Home to nearly 500 resident students, freshmen through seniors, and over 2,500 students who take classes there each week, GW’s Mount Vernon Campus on Foxhall Road is a full-service community with all of the facilities, services, and programs necessary to support a thriving student body.

Mount Vernon Campus Life (MVCL) exists as the one-stop-shop for many of these services, incorporating student activities, event and special services, and the residence halls for the Mount Vernon campus. From the weekly Wacky Wednesday series to Midterm Stressbusters (featuring the ever-popular chair massages and Four Footed Faculty Friends) to Cinema Français à Mount Vernon, MVCL’s student activities offer a wide array of programs and events to fit all tastes and interests. MVCL is also proud to partner with the Student Activities Center and other GW offices and organizations to produce University-wide programming, including the fall and spring Welcome Weeks, Colonial Night Cap late-night programming on weekends, and Stress Free Zone at the end of each semester, with signature events such as GW’s World Market, Laser Tag, and Krispy Kreme and Koffee held on the Mount Vernon campus during each of these celebrations.

Taking full advantage of the Mount Vernon campus’ 25 acre oasis in the midst of the bustling city, the SUMMIT Outdoor Challenge Course is located on the campus and provides the perfect opportunity for team building and leadership development. The finishing touch on MVCL’s student activities program is the Mount Vernon Programming Council (MVPC), a student organization responsible for plenty of campus programming, including coffeehouses with live music each month, special events such as S’mores Night, Octoberfest, and The Vern Cup, and of course, Fountain Day, GW’s end of academic year celebration with lots of great food, fun activities, and live music by a nationally known act.

MVCL’s event and special services provide the ultimate welcome to the Mount Vernon campus. Event services make it easy for student organizations and others to host meetings and programs on the Mount Vernon campus, in venues ranging from the elegant Post Hall to the expansive green space of The Quad to the lively action and excitement of The Pub. Special services provide the connection between Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon with The Vern Express, the efficient round the-clock shuttle service that allows all members of the GW community to easily experience the best that both of the campuses have to offer.
