CI for Students

From Academic Briefings and campus barbecues to your first glimpse of the monuments by moonlight, CI is your first opportunity to experience GW as a student.

To start off your experience, you and the other students attending CI will stay together in our first-year residence halls, allowing you to build connections and experiences that will remain with you for a lifetime.

During CI you will have an opportunity to meet with advisors and learn first-hand about the academic experience and expectations here at GW. With the focus on academic planning, you will learn about innovative living and learning programs, have a professional advisor talk with you about courses for the Spring Semester, and obtain both peer and professional advising on majors, minors, and fields of study.

Beyond the academic orientation, the Colonial Cabinet has organized events that will introduce you to community life, student activities on campus, and the diverse resources in and around Washington, DC, that make GW so unique. Making lifelong friends, seizing the Colonial spirit, and becoming part of a student organization are all parts of the experience that you will have at CI. You will also begin to grasp the opportunities and responsibilities that come with being a member of the GW community. By the time CI is over, we hope that many of your questions about your transition to college life will be answered and that GW will feel like home as you start classes in January.
