Data Privacy Policy
The Career Center of The George Washington University is committed to providing privacy of personal information for clients of the Career Center. The Career Center operates computer systems that are developed and maintained by University technical staff. The Career Center also partners with external organizations for the Career Center's job listing/resume database, on-campus recruiting services, Career Fair employer registration system, and credentials servicing. Further information regarding those partner organizations can be found below.
Information collected and maintained by the Career Center's computer systems is used to provide and tailor services to our clients as well as inform them of services and programs that may be of interest. This collected information is accessible only to Career Center staff. The information may also be used to construct aggregate reports that assist us in program planning and for statistical reports. Any information shared with parties outside of the Career Center is only shared in aggregate form.
The Career Center's collection and access to students' personal information is governed by federal policy under the Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), as well as the University privacy policy.
Job listings, resume services, on-campus recruitment, and career fair registration services are provided in partnership with the NACElink Network, a national recruiting network. NACElink is an alliance of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), a nonprofit professional organization for career centers and employers, the Direct Employers Association, a nonprofit association of national employers, and Symplicity, a state-of-the-art technology provider of web-based tools and software solutions. Please refer to the websites of these respective partners for details of their privacy practices.
Students' profile data and resumes will reside on NACElink Network servers, and policies governing this data are covered in the NACElink Privacy Policy. Student and employer information from GWork/NACElink may be used to construct aggregate reports that assist the Career Center in program planning for statistical reports or to inform clients of services and programs that may be of interest. This information may also be used to troubleshoot problems and is accessible only to Career Center staff. Any information shared with parties outside of the Career Center is only shared in aggregate form. Jobs posted on the GWork/NACElink system may or may not be reviewed before posting. Clients are urged to validate job postings and use caution and common sense when applying. The Career Center staff strongly advises students to not disclose social security numbers, credit card information or bank account numbers to unknown employers. The University and the Career Center cannot be held responsible and/or liable for any damages, real or imagined, past, present or future, from the information contained in or requested by the job postings.
The Career Center supports the web-based access to MyPlan.com, which provides information on colleges, careers, and majors. Specifically, the Center subscribes to the portion of the site that provides career assessments that we believe to be of interest to our clients.
The Career Center subscribes to Vault, an online collection of company and industry profiles, which supports the job search needs of our clients. The Career Center is not responsible for the content of this site nor changes and updates made to Vault.com.
Credentials management services are provided via a partnership between the Career Center and Interfolio Inc., a portfolio management specialist. Interfolio provides specific computerized online services that relate to academic portfolio and credential management such as letters of recommendation and other confidential documentation required for application to graduate or professional schools, or application to certain professional positions. Clients have control over their academic portfolio documents contained within the Interfolio service and the distribution of those documents. Career Center staff will transfer contents of existing credentials files to Interfolio only upon receiving written request by the file’s owner. Career Center staff may access basic information about clients’ Interfolio accounts. Information gleaned from Interfolio may be used to troubleshoot or construct aggregate reports. Any information shared with parties outside of the Career Center is only shared in aggregate form.

The Career Center subscribes to Career Search, a compilation database of information about organizations and position openings, and H1B Visa Employer Databases which provides information about employers who have previously sponsored H1-B visas. The Career Center is not responsible for the content of the databases nor any changes and updates made to the databases.
The Career Center computer system contains links both within and outside The George Washington University's control. Unless otherwise noted, responsibility for the content, accuracy of information, changes, updates quality, and safety or suitability of any information found at linked sites resides solely with the sites.
