The Career Center encourages GW alumni to use our services and programs to assist with their own job and/or career decisions, but also to connect with current students.

Services, Programs & Events Career Advisor Network: an interactive online service from the Office of Alumni Programs which connects students and alumni who seek to connect with each other for professional networking and career advice purposes.
Career Fairs: Alumni are invited to attend the CareerCenter's annual career fairs. To gain entry to the fairs, you must demonstrate proof of your alumni status (e.g., alumni ID card, resume, transcripts, etc.).
Career Consulting: Make an appointment with one of our career consultants to discuss issues related to managing your career. This service is free for alumni within one year of graduating; after that it is $60 per hour. Thirty-minute appointments are available.
Career Resource Room: Research employers and industries, develop job leads, review salary information and utilize self-assessment resources and other career-related literature.
Credentials Service: Support your applications to graduate and/or professional schools with this service that submits references, transcripts, resumes and other documents to admissions offices. The CareerCenter has partnered with Interfolio, Inc., an online portfolio-management service. If you ask supervisors or professors for recommendation letters, they can log on to www.interfolio.com and upload letters directly into your file simply, securely and confidentially.
48-Hour Resume & Cover Letter Critique: Submit a draft of a typed cover letter or resume for review, processed over a two-day period. You may submit your resume and/or cover letter by stopping by the Career Resource Room with a copy of it, or by filling out the online request form. After two business days, your critiqued resume will be available for pick up in the CRR, or it can be electronically scanned and e-mailed back to you. Critiques can only be emailed back to GW email accounts. Please supply your GW email address at the time of submission.* This service is free for alumni within one year of graduating; after that it is $20 per page.
*Please note that if you submit it after 4pm on any certain weekday, the critiqued version will not be ready until two business days after the next business day. For example, if it is received after 4pm on a Monday, the resume will be ready on the following Thursday; after 4pm on Tuesday, it will be ready on Friday; after 4 on Wednesday - Monday, Thursday - Tuesday, Friday - Wednesday.
Job Listings Online: Free access is available to view job opportunities posted by over 12,000 registered organizations on GWork, our online joblisting and recruitment management system.
Mock Interviews: Practice the art of interviewing through this simulated, video-taped process, or participate in our Mock Interview Mania program held in the Spring semester. This service is free for alumni within one year of graduating; after that it is $60 per session.
On-Campus Recruiting Program (OCR) conveniently brings employers to campus to interview students for full-time, entry-level positions. Alumni may participate within the year following graduation. Access is through GWork, our online joblisting and recruitment management system. For more information and partipation requirements, go to our OCR page.
Resources: The CareerCenter provides resources, whether online, in print or on a listserv which can help you develop a career plan, form a strategy appropriate for your individual job search, and connect you with prospective employers.
Workshops: Attend group seminars on various career education and job-search topics. See the Upcoming Events calendar for specific dates and times.
Opportunities to Connect With Students The Career Center encourages alumni to return to campus to recruit current GW students as well as mentor them by providing advice based on their own career experiences.
Student-Alumni Programs: The Office of Alumni Relations and the George Washington Alumni Association offer many programs throughout the year to bring alumni back to campus to interact with students.
Career Advisor Network: an interactive online service created in conjunction with the Office of Alumni Programs that allows alumni opportunities to provide professional mentoring, and career and networking advice to current GW students.
Job Listings Online: Alumni can post positions available within their organization to over 25,000 GW students and alumni registered on our GWork system. (Alumni who wish to search joblistings, go here).
Information Sessions: Present information about your company and discuss current opportunities within the organization with current students.
On-Campus Recruiting Program (OCR) Interview current GW students for full-time, entry-level positions within your organization. You can manage your OCR profile and interview schedule through GWork, our online joblisting and recruitment management system. You can use the GWork system to post an available position, receive resumes from qualified students, and select those students with whom you wish to meet. Resume Madness: This energetic and fast-paced event held in the spring semester allows employers the opportunity to critique resumes of current students and provide career advice.

Students who have been awarded Federal Work Study funds as part of their University financial aid package can take advantage of this opportunity to meet with employers and to pick up employment forms and complete tax paperwork. Meet with employers representing a variety of career fields recruiting for full-time, part-time, co-op and internship positions. Attend the fair to look for job leads, gather information, and to develop a network of contacts. GWorld ID required for entrance. Proper attire required; business attire requested.
