Part-Time Jobs

WHAT ARE PART-TIME JOBS?
They are paid positions of less than 30 hours per week and more than 30 days in length.  Part-time jobs serve as a means for students to earn money and gain marketable skills while still in school.

HOW CAN I FIND A PART-TIME JOB?
The Career Center receives job listings from thousands of employers interested in
hiring GW students for their part-time personnel needs.
These employers advertise their available positions with the Career Center through GWork, the Center's online job and internship listing service exclusively for GW students and alumni.

Positions listed vary by type, salary and skill requirements, so students should pay careful attention to job descriptions when choosing this type of employment option.
These positions may be located either on or off campus, and may be listed as regular part-time or federal work study positions.

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT SERVICE
For on-campus part-time jobs, the Career Center administers the appropriate forms to be completed by students to ensure they are paid in a timely manner.

All GW students, whether employed as regular part-time or as part of the
Federal Work-Study program, must fill out the appropriate paperwork, which includes federal (W4) and local (DC-4 or local state) tax forms and an Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9). To complete an I-9, present the proper forms of identification (listed on the back of the I-9 form) to a student employment staff member in the Career Center.

PART-TIME POSITIONS WITH UNIVERSITY BENEFITS
Longer term
on-campus part-time jobs with eligibility for limited University benefits are listed through the University's
Department of Human Resource Services.
