Career Resources

The Career Center provides resources, whether online, in print or on a listserv which can help you develop a career plan, form a strategy appropriate for your individual job search, and connect you with prospective employers.

Resources to assist you in the career exploration process are available in the
The Career Resource Room (CRR).
  • GWork, powered by NACElink lists a wealth of jobs and internships posted online by employers seeking GW students and alumni for temporary and permanent employment opportunities.
  • CCINFO is an e-mail distribution list delivering up-to-date information about Career Center programs and services and news of career-related events happening around the country.
  • Career Options for Your Major - Documents you can download which provide extensive information and resources to guide you in a career choice based on a specific academic major or field of study.
  • CareerSearch is a powerful on-line employment research tool with a database of more than 2 million employers from every major sector in business and academia.
  • FREEFind the Right Experience & Employment - incorporates a progression of planned activities over the four years you are an undergraduate at GW that enhance knowledge, build marketable skills, facilitate career exploration and feature experiential learning - all great tools that will inspire and prepare you for a lifetime of meaningful work.
  • H1B Visa Employers Database contains listings of employers who have recently filed the appropriate paperwork to sponsor an international person for an H1B visa. This is a good starting point for international students to determine which employers may be willing to sponsor them.
  • Internships Online provides full, up-to-date information on over 3,000 organizations offering internships and summer jobs for students.  Log in with the username (intern08) and password (work).
  • JobWeb Articles - Links to recent articles published by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.  Topics include the most recent job outlook, current salary information, and advice on resume writing and interviews.
  • MyPlan - NEW!  GW students gain free access to this exclusive online service with hundreds of career-related databases, career and personality assessments, information on majors and graduate schools, discussion forums and online resources.
  • Print Resources - Some of the books and guides available in our Career Resource Room.
  • University Counseling Center's Career Development Series - A broad range of career development programs, including career/vocational testing and the Career Decisions Workshops.
  • USEFUL LINKS - Career search and development information links ranging from those specifically tailored to the GW  community to those for international students and other more generalized areas of interest.
  • Vault - NEW!  This exclusive online career library provides GW students free access to hundreds of industry guides, career field and occupational profiles, thousands of employer profiles, surveys, diversity profiles and message boards.  Just log into GWork to get access!
  • What to Do With a Major In... - Web sites that are particularly useful for exploring different career opportunities relevant to various academic majors.
