Welcome!

Welcome to GW Summer Tour!

Dear Parent/Guardian,

It is with great sadness that we must announce the closing of the GW Summer Tour effective with the close of the 2006 camp season.  Since 2002, the GW Summer Tour has served as an adjunct activity for the University in serving the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area, as well as for children of GW staff, faculty and alumni.  We appreciate and value your commitment to the program.  It was with great ambition and vision that the program would not only encourage children to find the joy in learning but support their individual sense of curiosities.  We are proud of the program we have provided.  Unfortunately we are now faced with challenges that compromise the quality our campers and parents have come to know as part of the GW Summer Tour experience.

Planned and on-going construction and renovation activities have been recognized that directly impact key areas such as space, staffing, and program patterns.  To run the camp at a level commensurate to expectations requires tremendous use of the school’s staff, students, facilities and general resources that compete with the overall mission of the University.  As a result of these factors, we have been forced to re-evaluate and identify activities that are essential to the core of the University’s mission.  This evaluation process has made it difficult but necessary to identify a number of meaningful programs that are distant from the core of these criteria, such as the GW Summer Tour.

As we transition to close the program, we have noted a few personal items belonging to some of our campers.   If you feel that your child(ren) may be short an item or two, so that we may return them to their care, please contact the camp office: Phone (202) 994-2267 or via Email bcurious@gwu.edu.  In addition, if there are any articles or computer works from the previous years that you would like a copy of please let us know as we are happy to share them.   Please contact our office no later than Thursday, November 30th.

It has been our immense pleasure to have served you and to have been a most integral part of your camper(s) future.  We have been pleased to present a quality program enriched with exciting, and fun-filled experiences that encouraged curiosity as well as fostered wonderful memories and lasting friendships.  Telia Paige, the Tour Guides, Coordinators, Instructors, and I thank you for having chosen the GW Summer Tour.

Sincerely,
