FREE WORKSHOPS FOR STUDENT GROUPS!

The Center for Alcohol and other Drug Education (CADE) trains and works with a diverse group of students to educate the campus community on alcohol and other drug issues.  This Peer Education group is called GWise: GW’s Impact on Substance Education.  These students undergo an extensive training on a vast array of issues relating to alcohol and other drugs in order to present this information to their peers.  CADE and GWise have created new workshops to relate this information to their peers in an engaging and realistic way.

If your group is interested in having GWise Peer Educators facilitate a workshop for your group, please fill out the request form below at least two weeks in advance.  Each workshop is facilitated by two GWise Peer Educators and is free of charge.

GUEST SPEAKERS AVAILABLE FOR FACULTY!

The Staff at the Center for Alcohol and other Drug Education would like to talk with your students about some health and safety concerns that can affect students’ well-being and performance during college years.  Does your syllabus cover some aspect of alcohol or other drug issues?  Bring in the experts from CADE to talk to your students!  Programs focusing on alcohol or other drug issues can be presented by our staff or trained Peer Educators. Alcohol or drug policies, social norms and impacts of addiction, health and nutrition of alcohol, etc. are all topics that can be taught by CADE.  We can tailor our program to your class content incorporating a vast array of issues that intersect with alcohol and other drug concerns.

While we prefer advance notice, we will do our best to accommodate last minute          requests.  Let’s join together to contribute to a safe learning environment where students can do their best.  If you are interested in having CADE come into your classroom as a guest speaker, please contact our office by completing the request form below.  You can also contact Katie Bean, Assistant Director, at 202-994-2599 for last minute requests.
