Elizabeth Somers Women's Leadership Program
These selective academic programs offer unique residential living and learning opportunities for first year women on GW's Mount Vernon Campus. WLP students receive individual attention from academic mentors who are passionate about their own subjects and committed to excellence in undergraduate education. Faculty and students form an intellectual community that encourages students to find their own academic and creative passions both in the classroom and beyond. Program courses offer an interdisciplinary perspective on leadership while meeting general curriculum requirements. WLP students actively explore the unique resources of Washington, DC in many different ways. A year-long symposium series includes meetings with women leaders, visits to outside organizations and events, and opportunities to meet future connections and mentors.
All programs are open to first-year women students admitted to any undergraduate School of the University interested in any academic major. Applicants may choose from four cohorts within the Elizabeth Somers Women’s Leadership Program: Globalization, Economics, and Business; International Arts and Culture; Science, Health, and Medicine; and U.S. and International Politics.
