Presidential Scholars in the Arts in Theatre, Dance, Music, and Fine Arts
The arts community at GW is vibrant and pursues artistic achievements in its own right. Opportunities are abundant for the students of our University who choose to enrich their lives with an education in the arts. Students combine a broad, theoretical, and intellectual exposure to the arts with performance or expression of the art form. Artistry and creativity in the studio or on the stage blend with the noted scholarship of GW. Students often minor in other academic areas.
The departments of Fine Arts and Art History, Music, and Theatre and Dance award scholarships each year to entering freshmen who apply for the scholarship and who have shown promise in the fine arts (ceramics, design, drawing, interior design, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and visual communication), music, theatre, technical theatre, directing, dance, and choreography. Presidential Scholars in the Arts will find support from faculty and the University at large. They are encouraged in their artistic pursuits and have the opportunity to create in excellent facilities, to work one-on-one with an inspired and inspiring faculty member, and to be exposed to our nation's most important museums, galleries, stages, and arts organizations.
