Elliott School of International Affairs Experience
GW
has educated future leaders in international
affairs for more than 100 years. The Elliott School of International Affairs (ESIA) is one of only nine American professional schools
that focus on international affairs education
at the undergraduate level. Since 1997, the U.S.
Department of Education has named GW as the
only National Resource Center in International
Studies recipient in the mid-Atlantic region.
The School offers students a comprehensive and
innovative education that provides the knowledge
and skills required to succeed in an increasingly
interdependent world. For curriculum requirements and general ESIA information click here.
Elliott School
students benefit from living and working in
the heart of a major world capital that offers
countless opportunities to experience first-hand
the operations of the U.S. government and international
organizations. Students take advantage of the
School’s central Washington location by
pursing career-related internships, attending
informational and cultural events, and appreciating
the rich diversity that the city has to offer.
In addition, ESIA provides an active public
events program that includes international affairs scholars, political analysts,
practitioners, world leaders—enough to
average one speaker per day for every work day.
Many students also enrich their studies through
numerous study abroad options that are offered
for a semester, a summer, or a year.
ESIA academic options include
4 major fields of study:
International Affairs
With global issue concentrations available in:
Comparative Political Economic, and Social Systems
