Research

Capitalizing on the integrated research-teaching environment of GW, the University has developed a number of options to promote involvement, connection, and results. The ever increasing opportunities and resources allow students to become involved in a diverse range of research endeavors. Options for funding and projects include:

Luther Rice Collaborative Fellowship Program: The Program funds student initiated research. Students work under the mentorship of a faculty member to develop their own research projects. The Fellowships are intended to support critical inquiry and intellectual honesty through practical support of student research.

Gamow Research Awards: Provides either academic year or summer funding to undergraduate students in all schools of the University who submit a joint proposal with a faculty member to conduct research, scholarship, or creative activity. The goal is to nurture the careers of sophomores and juniors by enabling them to participate in meaningful, mentored research experiences.

Major-Specific Awards: The Hughes Scholarship Program, The Kiev Writing Prize, and The Cotlow Research Awards provide awards in support of major-specific research. Students are also encouraged to explore and participate in national fellowship opportunities such as Marshall, Rhodes, and Rotary Scholarship awards.  The GW Center for Undergraduate Fellowships and Research provides support and guidance as students undertake these applications.

Inquiry: GW's undergraduate research journal accepts submissions from all academic disciplines. This student run publication encourages undergraduates to share their research progress as well as participate in the editorial process.
