Transfer Applicant

Application Requirements:

  • A GW Online Application or the Common Application.
  • Application Fee.
  • A GW Supplement, if using the Common Application.
  • An official transcript from each institution of higher education previously attended (whether or not credit was earned or is desired) sent directly from the registrar's office to GW's Office of Admissions.
  • A faculty recommendation. A recommendation form is provided in the Application.
  • Essays. The essay questions are given in the Application.
  • An official secondary school transcript mailed directly from the high school attended for students with less than 30 semester hours of transferable credit. If you are unsure of your credit status, we would advise you to submit this document to facilitate the review of your application.
  • SAT or ACT test scores sent directly to our Admissions Office by the testing agency for students with less than 30 semester hours of transferable credit. If you are unsure of your credit status, we would advise you to submit this document to facilitate the review of your application. GW's school code for the SAT is 5246 and for the ACT is 0664.

Student Financial Assistance:

  • Register for a customized PROFILE form by telephone at 1-800-778-6888, or online at www.collegeboard.org.
  • File your PROFILE form with the College Scholarship Service (CSS). Use GW's school code number 5246 to designate us as an official recipient of your information.
  • File your FAFSA with the federal processor designating GW to receive your information by using our federal school code, 001444.
