Meet the Admissions Staff

Dr. Kathryn Napper

Kathy has been the Executive Dean of Admissions since 1997, but she has been a Colonial for a lot longer. Kathy has held nearly every position in the Admissions Office since she started working as a student employee at the age of 18 (and it would be impolite to say how long ago that was!) During that time, Kathy has obtained three degrees from GW: a bachelor’s in Elementary Education, a master’s in Public Administration, and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration. In her years at GW, Kathy has traveled to 41 states and territories and 11 countries.  Kathy originally hails from West Virginia and, not surprisingly, she’s an avid country music fan but is a Motown junkie as well.

Dorie Ain

Dorie is excited to return to GW as an Assistant Director of Admissions at GW. Dorie graduated from GW in 2005 with her B.A. in Political Science and Judaic Studies. During her years as a student at GW, she was an active member of the STAR Program as a tour guide, and now Dorie is co-manager of the Visitor Center and STAR Program! She also coordinates special group visits to the University, as well as visits to the Mount Vernon Campus. This year, Dorie will be recruiting in Long Island and southern Virginia. Perhaps while she is in southern Virginia, she will get a chance to hear a lot of her preferred type of music: country!

Slavko Bradic

Slavko, an Associate Director of Admissions at GW, began working here in 2001 and if you’re ever in the office you can’t miss him: he is 6’ 7’’! Also in 2001, Slavko received his Master’s degree in Information Systems Technology from GW. As the manager for computer resources and solutions, Slavko’s expertise ensures that daily office functioning runs smoothly and also allows us to stay connected on the road. Slavko was instrumental in the implementation of the system that allows us to read applications on-line and we would never turn back to the paper system. Slavko, originally from Serbia, came to the U.S. to play basketball and received his bachelor’s degree from Mount Senario College. It was also during his undergraduate years that he met his wife, a GW women’s basketball star! This year, Slavko will be traveling to south Florida.

Dr. Rahsaan Burroughs

Rahsaan is an Associate Director of Admissions at GW and has been with GW since 2000. He stays busy as Director of Multicultural Recruitment and as the liaison to the GW Department of Athletics. He also manages transfer evaluation and processing. Though Rahsaan has his B.S. from the College of William and Mary, he received his M.A. and EdD from the Graduate School of Education and Higher Development (GSEHD) at our very own George Washington University. Rahsaan travels to Washington state and southeast Florida (he often jokes that he visits the ‘bookends’ of the country), and between work and traveling he enjoys playing tennis and watching his favorite TV show, “I Love Lucy”.

Arturo Carrillo

Arturo is an Assistant Director of Admissions at GW, and began working in 2003 as an admissions staff member, but has been at the University since 1999. Arturo also worked in the admissions office when he was a student earning his B.A. in History and Psychology and also a M.Ed. in Secondary Education. He travels to all of Texas. In the office, Arturo is part of our multicultural recruitment team, coordinates our student bloggers, and manages the mailroom. He is a huge Star Wars fan and his favorite thing about GW is meeting his wife here.

Carol Lee Conchar

Carol is a Regional Director of Admissions for Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. She has been working for GW since 1999 and her favorite thing about GW is working with students both on the applicant side and then as current students! Carol, who has a B.F.A. from the Massachusetts College of Art and a M.F.A. from the Cranbrook Academy of Art, still isn’t sure who are her favorite visual artists.  However, she loves to be creative and she really enjoys cooking, listening to indie music, and is an avid reader.  And since Carol isn’t a native Southerner she’s still trying to figure out how cheese grits are considered a delicacy and why sweet tea is such a big deal!

Liz Frosini

Liz began working in the admissions office as an Assistant Director in 2007. She recently graduated from GW receiving her B.B.A. in Business Administration with concentrations in International Business, Business Economics, and Public Policy.  The admissions office is not unfamiliar territory to Liz. While she was a student at GW, Liz worked in the admissions office and was also a member of Colonial VIP 2005. She will be traveling to Ohio for GW this year and cheering for the Buckeyes (although she is a Notre Dame fan at heart!). In addition she will be visiting Arizona and Connecticut.  Additionally, Liz loves to cook, so occasionally we may find yummy treats in the kitchen!

Dr. Joe Greenberg

Joe is the Regional Director of Admissions for New England and began working in this capacity in 1998. He travels to 5 of the 6 states in New England; Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island and this year will be visiting one school in Connecticut. He has a B.A. in Business from Salem College, and a M.A. in Business Education and an Ed.D in Higher Education from Boston University. Prior to his work in admissions Joe was a professor of higher education at GW for 24 years. In fact, he was the doctoral advisor for the Dean of Admissions, Kathy Napper when she was working toward her doctoral degree!

Jill Gully

Jill is our West Coast Regional Director.  She lives in Los Angeles and travels throughout California.  Aside from cultivating relationships with students and families, she particularly loves reading applications from her home in sunny Southern California (especially when the snow is falling in DC).  Jill attended Mount Holyoke College and graduated with a B.A. in Women’s Studies and Psychology.  Her favorite things include; Spiral Jetty, cheese enchiladas, backpacking, and green architecture.

Zakaree M. Harris

Zak, who began working here in 2007, is an Assistant Director of Admissions. He recently graduated from Connecticut College receiving his B.A. in Psychology and Human Development. He is also currently working towards his M.A. in Organizational Management at GW. He is coordinator of the SJT Scholars Program and liaison to high school non-degree students. Zak will be traveling to local Washington, DC area high schools as well as North/Central Florida and Ohio for GW this year. He enjoys listening to R & B and hip-hop oldies and his favorite TV show is “24.” Zak’s favorite thing about GW is that it is a school full of diverse opportunities for students to thrive and succeed in.

Antoine Hart

Antoine, the newest member of Admissions (standing 6'7" tall), is excited and proud to return to GW as an Assistant Director of Admissions at GW. Antoine graduated from GW in 1995 with his B.A. in Sociology and during his years as a student he played for the men's basketball team. One of his most exciting memories was when GW competed against the "Fab 5" Michigan team in the Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament that included future NBA stars Chris Webber and Juwan Howard. After graduating, Antoine played professional basketball overseas for Lithuania, represented the USA with Reebok in the 3-on-3 basketball challenge (traveling to such places as Slovenia and Italy), and played on the People-2-People All-Star basketball team. Originally from Long Island, Antoine is a NY Giants Fanatic, and lifelong NY Knicks fan.

Kristen Kaczynski

Kristen is a Senior Assistant Director at GW and has been a proud Colonial for since 1998, as a student who worked in the Admissions office and now as a staff member. In the office, she is responsible for publications, email development, and web site maintenance. Her favorite quote is “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans,” and while Kristen plans to the complete her Doctorate in Higher Education in the coming years, her third degree from GW, she enjoys her day-to-day life. This year Kristen will be traveling to Hawaii and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Charlie Leizear

Charlie began working as an Assistant Director in 2007 but has had a much longer history with the University. He recently graduated from GW with a B.S. in Statistics and a minor in Geography, and prior to his current position, he kept his schedule full as a student employee for three years, working as a Senior Interviewer, a student supervisor during the academic year, and a student coordinator of the Visitor Information Program. It seems as though Charlie will not stop until he has had every job the admissions office has to offer! Charlie is thrilled to be traveling to Toronto and Upstate New York this year (and as an Atlanta native, he is very excited to experience some real snow!). In his free time, Charlie is a huge Dreamgirls fan and watches American Idol religiously.

Sean Lewis

Sean is an Assistant Director of Admissions and began working at GW in 2005. He has a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from Susquehanna University and is working on his M.A. in Public Policy at GW. He is also coordinator of the BA/JD and BA/MD programs and all of the BA/MA programs. For GW, Sean travels to Pittsburgh, Central Pennsylvania, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Among all of his responsibilities, if Sean can find time to get in a round of golf, he is a happy camper!

Lindsay Mathers

Lindsay, a Senior Assistant Director of Admissions at GW, began working in the admissions office in 2006 but has worked at GW since 2004. She is looking forward to recruiting in Philadelphia, England, and Turkey. She earned a B.A. in Communication from the University of Delaware. Lindsay continued her education as a GW Colonial by earning her M.A. in Higher Education Administration and is currently pursuing her Ed.D in Higher Education Administration. She is the Director of the Admissions Alumni & Parent (AAP) program. She also loves to run marathons and compete in triathlons….we’ve yet to figure out when she sleeps.

Chris McLaurin

Chris, one of the newest Assistant Directors, is happy to have made the transition from GW Student to GW Staff. He graduated from the Elliott School of International Affairs with a double concentration in the Middle East and Africa. While at GW he was a member of the GW Crew Team, a STAR (tour guide) and studied abroad in Ghana, West Africa. He is co-manager of the Visitors Center and STAR program and also helps with multicultural recruitment as well as international evaluation. He has a B.A. in American Cultural Studies and Spanish from Bates College. For GW, Douglas travels to Puerto Rico and New York City. His favorite TV show is “Brothers and Sisters” because he says that Sally Field reminds him of his boss, Kathy Napper!

Rob Ramey

Rob is an Assistant Director of Admissions at GW and has been so since 2000. He is the liaison to numerous programs at GW, including Presidential Classroom, Youth Leadership Conference groups, the National Native American Youth Initiative and the Summer Scholars Program. Ffiona Rees

Ffiona is an Associate Director of Admissions and has worked in the Admissions Office since 1997 (or 1993 if you count her time as student!) She travels to Manhattan and Asia for GW – as she says, “it’s a rough life, but someone has to do it!” Ffiona is a two-time GW graduate; she graduated with a BA in Geography in 1997, and completed her M.B.A. in 2005. She lived in Oxford, England for seven years, and no, that’s not a typo, she does in fact spell her name with 2 F’s. Feel free to ask her why when you meet her!

Danielle Svoronos

Danielle is a Regional Director of Admissions for the state of New Jersey and has been so since 1999. She has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from St. Peter’s College and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from NYU. For those fellow New Jerseyans who enjoy romantic comedies, you and Danielle already have something in common as her favorite movies are Grease and Sixteen Candles.

Kirsten Pugh Walker

Kirsten, an Associate Director of Admissions, began her work in the office at GW in 2003, but has been working the admissions field since 1998. While excited to be traveling to Northern Virginia, her ties will forever remain strong to the great state of Ohio where Kirsten earned her B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University. Thanks to Kirsten, we now know the Ohio state beverage is tomato juice and that a buckeye is a nut! Kirsten works closely with Dorie and Douglas as manager of the Visitor Center, and also manages our on-campus and off-campus recruitment and special events.

Touran Waters

Touran is an Associate Director of Admissions and has been in admissions at GW since 1993. She works closely with our international applicants and has traveled to 25 countries on recruitment trips for GW.  These days, however, her two kids keep her closer to home – she currently travels to exotic Montgomery County, Maryland. She has a B.A. in psychology and French from Duke University and an M.A. in Higher Education Administration from GW. Touran has loved working for a university “on the rise.”  She also adds that it is exciting to be a part of a dynamic institution with such talented students!

Sara joined the GW Admissions team as an Assistant Director in August
2008, after moving to Washington from New York City. She graduated from
Union College in 2007 with a degree in American History and minors in Political Science and Fine Arts. While a student, she was actively involved
in the Admissions department at Union as a tour-guide and interviewer.
